Cheap Trick on Live from Daryl’s House

17 May

I’ve been waiting for this for a long time and it finally happened! Cheap Trick were the guests on the awesome series “Live from Daryl’s House.” If you don’t know, LFDH is Daryl Hall’s show where he invites musicians and bands to his home studio, where they play Hall and Oates songs and the guest artist’s songs, enjoy a great meal, and talk about their art, careers and anything else.

So needless to say I was psyched when I heard my all-time favorite band of all-time would be making an appearance.  They go way back with Hall but never actually played music with him and you could tell everyone was psyched for this to happen.

The results did not disappoint. Here they are doing the Hall & Oates song “Family Man”, where Robin Zander shows once again that he can sing anything.

And here they are doing the cool new CT song “No Direction Home” from the  new album Bang, Zoom, Crazy…Hello.”

Finally, here’s a version of the dark, epic CT song “Heaven Tonight”

I really love Daryl’s contributions to the CT songs (they also did “Surrender” and “I Want You To Want Me”) and Daryl’s awesome backing band added a lot as well.

Great stuff, finally. Worth checking out are most of the other episodes of LFDH. The Cee-Lo Green, Todd Rundgren and Joe Walsh episodes are especially cool.

Louis C.K. on eating pressure and providing an alternative to The Man   | Comedy | Interview | The A.V. Club.

The best, most insightful, interesting and inspiring interview I’ll read all month.  Louis C.K. desrves the accolades, money and more that he’s been getting.  Not just because he’s talented and his work ethic is tireless, but also because he’s passionate.  This sums it up for me:

“and the least predictable and funnest way to do it was to try to do something totally new. It’s so fun to be on the front row of a thing that’s changing. It’s a really fun thing.”

Embrace change.
