Nope, it wasn’t Ricky Gervais’ monologue (which was really good). It was Sacha Baron Cohen’s scathing take down of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, while introducing the brilliant movie JoJo Rabbit: “The hero of this next movie is a naive, misguided child who spreads Nazi propaganda and only has imaginary friends. His name is Mark Zuckerberg. Sorry this is an old intro for Social Network.”
The way of the world now: the above story, Ricky Gervais, Tom Hanks’ son…the individual antics get more notice than any of the movies or awards. I suppose this is nothing really new; how many stories are there every year of what the stars wore, for example? At any rate, I’m more curious now to see 1917 than I was before the Golden Globes.
