Cheap Trick – New Year's Eve

I HAD THE PLEASURE

of seeing my all-time favorite band of all-time, Cheap Trick on New Year’s Eve at Treasure Island Casino in southern MN. Naturally, the mighty Cheap Trick did not disappoint; there were some set list surprises: the theme song from That 70’s Show, “Magical Mystery Tour,” and the punky “Sick Man of Europe.” There was also a blistering cover of Aerosmith’s “Rats In the Cellar” that got its first live airing (is this for an Aerosmith tribute album? Rumor is its produced by Jack Douglas, who produced several classic Aerosmith albums, as well as Cheap Trick’s amazing debut album). Overall, a fun and rollicking 90 minutes of rock n’ roll, with “Auld Lang Syne” at midnight, of course.

My photos are lame, but to see some amazing photos from a great rock photographer, head over to this review at 1013 Music Reviews.
