It’s September, I recently turned 51 and something has continued to gnaw at me, the fact that an important experience is missing from my life.
I’ve STILL never been called/picked/selected for jury duty. Why?
I vote regularly, own a home, I’m a parent, I have never committed a crime, am up-to-date on my taxes, I don’t have any overdue library books, I give blood regularly (I’m in the gallon club!), I don’t litter…I try my best to be an upstanding citizen.
I know a lot of people who have been picked for jury duty – some more than once! And plenty of people complain about being picked and serving on a jury. If I’m ever picked I certainly won’t complain – not after complaining so often that I’ve never been chosen to be a part of the justice system.
I can’t help but wonder why I’ve never been picked. Especially in this digital age where privacy is hard to come by. Maybe the justice system thinks I might be biased, because of things I’ve written here, or on Facebook. Or maybe it’s just the luck of the draw…or lack thereof.
I want to serve! I want to do my civic duty!
