How You Know If They’re “The One” – Kris Gage – Medium

I AM OFTEN PRONE to going overboard without a life raft for essays that really blow me away. This is one of those times: this post about finding your one and only love speaks – rather, it yells, – to what I’d been doing wrong for a long time – like most of my adult life, and now realize that finally, I might be doing things right. It certainly feels that way.  Bottom line is, there is no “one.” Rather, “relationship success doesn’t hinge on finding the one “right” person.” And, that it “it matters less what you start with, and much more what you put in.”  Think about that.

There’s a lot to digest, but this really stood out:

Which is why emotional stability and emotional self-sufficiency is the most important thing in a partner. Focus on finding someone who has that and once you do, trust that the rest is in good hands. Then focus on your domain, which is you. (True for both partners.)
