I REMEMBER BEING DISAPPOINTED because the albums and cassettes these clubs manufactured under license from other labels often didn’t include the sleeves the regular versions had. All I got was a cellophane-type sleeve – when I knew that had I bought the record from my local record store (Record Stop, I believe it was called) the sleeve would have credits, lyrics, photos, etc.
That said, the initial excitement of picking x-amount of new music for only a penny, or a $1.00 – whooo! Then there was also the disappointment that I was locked into however many albums for the next year or whatever. I don’t recall ever completing the required purchases.
