Happy Birthday, Bruce Johnston

HAPPY 75TH BIRTHDAY TO BRUCE JOHNSTON of The Beach Boys!

Johnston originally joined the band in 1965, filling in for Brian Wilson who got off the road then to start spending more time in the studio.  From there, Johnston became a regular, ongoing member of the band, with the exception being 1972-1977 when he left to pursue a solo career.

My favorite Johnston-penned Beach Boys song might be the lilting, sentimental “Disney Girls (1957)” which appeared on the awesome Surf’s Up album.

DID YOU KNOW?  Bruce Johnston also wrote one of Barry Manilow’s biggest hits?  Johnston wrote “I Write The Songs,” which went to number one in 1975 and won the Grammy for Song of the Year.
