There’s few better motivators in life than a desire to be the best, but fear, revenge, and resentment can help do the trick, too. Those four things – individually or all together – have always worked for me to get what I want, to accomplish what I set out to do. Mostly, its the desire to be the best is the first thing that motivates me. Fear will get me moving, too – afraid of the unknown, of what might happen if something happens, or if something doesn’t happen. Often, resentment and revenge will light a fire under me very fast. Don’t tell me I can’t do something, or I’m not good enough. Whereby the best revenge is me doing it and proving you wrong. Sometimes the resentment is imagined – whatever it takes, though.
Revenge and resentment can be great motivators. At some point, though, those two can’t be what motivates you the most.
