Mother weeps when she finds her son with autism did not have to sit alone at lunch on this day

THIS IS WONDERFUL, YET HEART-BREAKING TO READ, all at the same time. Why can’t this boy sit with someone at lunch EVERY day? Why can’t the school see to it? For one day, at least, someone sat with him. It took a visiting college football player there for an event, not affiliated with the school, saw there was a little boy eating alone and did something simple. He joined him and interacted with him:

There has to be programs – or something – where kids with special needs aren’t bullied and at lunch at least, have a friend to eat lunch with him every day. An adult volunteer, a high school kid, a teacher, someone.
